CREATING A MAGENTO MODULE

You will be able to create a Magento module. We will walk through all the structures that Magento supports in a module. This consist of frontend, backend and API elements.

MAGENTO PRODUCT TYPES

Products are the lifeline of a Magento store. It is important to know how the different types of products work. In this course you will learn the difference between the product types, e.g. Configurable products and Bundle products. We will dive into the code and see how an ‘add to cart’ works with the different kind of products.

MAGENTO CHECKOUT FLOW

A lot of customizations done in Magento stores are related to pricing. You will learn the code behind the Magento checkout flow. A deeper knowledge of how Magento uses the Quote for calculating prices will provide major value for customizations. You will be able to modify the code to add and subtract prices.

DEPENDENCY INJECTION AND OBSERVER

You will learn how to extend existing Magento components. You will know how to modify a function and extend a class. You will also learn how to tap into an event (e.g. the collect totals) and trigger your custom code. Dependency injection gives you a fancy way to add the required objects to your class. We will dive into all the ways Magento uses the dependency injection.

PRODUCT AND CUSTOMER ATTRIBUTES

We will dive into the ability to add product and customer attributes. You will be able to customize new attributes and fill the attributes with new information. You will get a deeper understanding of how the EAV database model works in Magento. You will also know how the Magento setup script works and know how to install an attribute.

Command Line Interface

In the Magento Bootcamp course, you will get to know the command-line interface (CLI). The CLI is a powerful tool that can make (recurring) actions easier. It is mandatory to use the command line in Magento. As a new Magento developer, you will learn how to deploy a production and developer environment. You will get to know the tips and tricks to help to debug CLI issues. The course will also show you how to create a custom CLI command.

CONNECTING TO AN ERP

A lot of companies use multiple software systems. When a store has a warehouse, a manufacturing procedure or another supporting system you want to be able to connect them. In the course, we will load all the chocolates that are produced in the factory and show them in the Magento store. We will create a Magento module and connect the ERP via REST API.

CONNECTING TO A CRM

An often use case that often happens in a Magento store is connecting to a CRM (customer relationship management). For example, the factory has retailers that are maintained in the CRM but they want to allow them to purchase products on the store. In the course, you will learn how to load customer data from and to the CRM system. This is also called an API with two-way binding.

REPORTING

In the Magento backend, we will create a report module that will log the traffic going through an API. You will create a grid and display the metrics. This will combine all the practices in the course and combining them into one module.
